A digital billboard, also called an LED billboard or electronic billboard, is a high-resolution LED display. It replaces traditional vinyl-printed ads.

Instead of one creative running 24/7 for a full contract period, digital billboards rotate multiple advertisers — usually 6 to 8 in a single loop — with each creative shown for 6–10 seconds at a time.
"Digital billboard" and "LED billboard" mean the same thing. "LED" refers to the underlying display technology (light-emitting diodes); "digital billboard" refers to the format and use case.
The two terms are interchangeable in the industry.

Every modern digital billboard is an LED billboard under the hood. The screens use thousands of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to render high-resolution video and graphics, with auto-adjusting brightness (4,000–10,000 nits) and 24/7 operation.
Pixel pitch is the key spec when comparing LED billboards. A 16mm pitch board has 16mm between each LED — fine for highway viewing distances. Indoor and close-viewing LED screens use tighter pitches (4mm–6mm) for crisper resolution.
